The Present

The site at Ellesmere now has two main sawmill systems, the "New mill" built in 1991 and the "New Top Mill" our most recent investment built in 2004. The "New mill" is our main line processing larger cross sections of timber from "logs" and our "New Top Mill" has been designed to supplement this, processing smaller cross sections of square sawn
timber from "Bars".

The production of softwood fencing has increased with market demand since the developments of the 1970's and the two sawmills at Ellesmere are now one of the largest manufacturers of softwoods for the fencing and pallet industries in England.

Our 37 acre site currently employs 120 people and produces approximately 56,000 M3 of sawn timber per year, which equates to around 112,000 M3 of Round timber intake. Our on-site Machine shop offers a wide range of machined products such as Weathering, rounding, morticing, 'V' notching, recessing, capping, pointing, planing and many more specific requirements.

We have currently have four 40ft treatment vessels on site, two dedicated to "Tanatone" Brown and the other two on "Tanalith E" Green preservative which avoids any cross contamination of colour.

Using a dedicated and flexible local haulier, we are able to offer a nationwide delivery service and in most instances we can deliver "part" loads, not just "full artic loads".
